Calculators

SIP, SWP and goal calculators

Three calculators for the three questions people ask most: how much will this grow to, how long will it last, and how much do I need to put away. No sign-up, nothing stored.

SIP calculator

A systematic investment plan puts a fixed amount into a mutual fund every month. The calculator shows what those instalments could grow to at the return you assume, and how much of the final figure is your own money versus growth.

Instalments are treated as invested at the start of each month and compounded monthly, which is how SIPs behave in practice. At an assumed 12% a year, ₹25,000 a month for 20 years works out to about ₹2.50 crore, against ₹60 lakh invested.

SWP calculator

A systematic withdrawal plan takes a fixed amount out of a corpus every month while the rest stays invested. The calculator shows the balance over time and, most importantly, whether the corpus survives the period you choose.

If the withdrawals outpace the assumed growth, the calculator tells you the year the money runs out. That is the number to plan around, not the one you hope for.

Goal planner

Start from the amount you need and the year you need it. The planner works backwards to the monthly SIP that reaches it at the return you assume.

At an assumed 12% a year, reaching ₹1 crore in 15 years takes a SIP of about ₹19,819 a month. Change the years and notice how much each extra year of time is worth.

What these calculators assume

  • A constant rate of return every year. Real returns vary, sometimes sharply, from year to year.
  • Monthly compounding, with SIP instalments at the start of each month.
  • No taxes, exit loads or changes to your contribution.
  • Figures are illustrations, not a promise of any outcome.
